The shift
AI agents are becoming a new channel for accessing content. They do not simply visit a page: they read metadata, follow links, extract portions of text or data, and use external sources to answer user requests.
This changes the relationship between editorial content and software systems. The question is not only how to be found, but how to decide which content remains public, which content should be protected, and which content can be offered under specific conditions or paid access.
The thesis
AssetRouter is infrastructure for making content readable by AI agents, but also governable, traceable, and valuable under clear rules. The value comes from joining elements that are often separate today: content structure, provenance, usage terms, protection against automated traffic, payment, and proof of authorized access.
Why now
For European publishers, the issue is not only technical. It concerns control of content, copyright protection, access transparency, and the possibility of building new forms of remuneration within a framework consistent with European rules.
The relationship between publishers and AI systems cannot be defined only by global platforms or by solutions built for other markets. Interoperable, verifiable tools are needed, designed to leave the publisher with the choice of what remains public, what is protected, and what is offered for payment.
